Let's Play Super Mario Bros. 2 - Part 1: Mario's Dream Land
2Yep, we're playing Super Mario Bros. 2. Hey, it is Mario day (Mar. 10), so it's only fitting. This game is well-known for being different from most of the other 2D Mario platformers, and it's not even the official Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan (there, it's known as "Super Mario USA", and The Lost Levels is Super Mario Bros. 2). It was based on a much more obscure game called Doki Doki Panic, though I've seen conflicting information on whether that was actually intended as a Mario game from the start. The point is, we are in the dream world of Subcon (not that the game ever tells you that), and we have to rescue its denizens from the evil king Wart (again, not that you'd know just from playing the game), mainly by picking up things and throwing them. World 1 is simple enough, a good introduction to the game's mechanics and some common enemy types.
