Let's Play the static speaks my name
Jacob Ernholtz was a reclusive fellow. He lived alone in a house in the middle of nowhere. He was paranoid and mentally ill. He bought a bunch of TV screens and stacked them in beside the front door and had them all play static to make the bad voices go away. It didn't help. He became clinically depressed so he decided to find a hobby. He went to a local art trade and found a painting for sale. It was a painting of two palm trees on a small island. He liked that painting so he bought it. He stared at the painting for days and became obsessed with it. He found copies of the painting for sale so he used his monthly income to buy as many as he could get his hands on. The more he looked at all the paintings, the more his obsession grew worse. He started thinking there must be some hidden meaning within the painting. He began analyzing the painting hoping to find that hidden meaning. Geographical location to religious symbolism and he still found nothing. Then one day he found the artist's signature, Jason Malone, and tracked him down. He asked the artist what the meaning behind the palm trees were. The artist told him there is no hidden meaning; he just likes painting palm trees. This didn't sit well with Jacob so he drugged the artist and kidnapped him. He was locked in a cage and forced to paint palm trees over and over. Jacob boarded up his house while he held the artist captive. Money ran dry followed by food supplies. On Jacob's last day, he got up in the middle of the night and did some menial tasks. He checked on the artist one last time. The artist was tired, starving, and his painting skills degraded. Jacob thought of letting the artist go but seeing how weak he was, he knew he wouldn't make it very far and besides, the authorities would never come out this far in the middle of nowhere. Jacob decided it was best to euthanize the artist. After the deed was done, Jacob hung himself. His last words: "The static...speaks...my name."
