The great thing about JRPGs is that, if you get lost (or can't see an obvious path), it can actually be a good thing. There's a bit of grinding that the game expects you to do, so taking the time to wander about and fight monsters can be good for you. It's probably better for viewer sanity if you actually head in the right direction, though.
