Right after the blindsiding smash hit that was Bowser's Inside Story, AlphaDream finally gets the chance to transition onto the 3DS where it immediately threw all of its eggs out of the basket and then fell down a really steep cliff.

Dream Team is such a comical mess of a game with all the elements of the game misfiring on all cylinders that it's amazing to think this was the same company that three years ago pushed out a true 10/10. The story is a glorious ode to why Halo 5 screwed up in just how many random, nonsense plot devices AlphaDream can toss up into the air without even thinking of catching them. The combat design is skewed so that the enemy has all the cards and the player is left holding the awkward 3 of Clubs. Even down to AlphaDream's usual saving grace, the comedy is atrocious and trying to liven up the room with deliberately bad jokes.

Dream Team is the video game equivalent of a massive facepalm in just how many missteps AlphaDream makes today in trying to craft an RPG. Maybe they shouldn't have tried making Bowser's Inside Story 2 and focused on a new story. It worked for them in the past.
