Many fans of Fallout 1 and 2 were hella disappointed with Fallout 3. The deep conversation trees and ability to make meaningful choices were replaced with the choice to either nuke a town...or not.

For some reason ($$$) Bethesda licensed their Fallout 3 engine to RPG masters Obsidian and we got New Vegas as the result.

Check out the first hour to see if it's your style. I had a great time with it and so far prefer it greatly to 3 and 4.
