Inayah - Life After Gods is the story of a world that has long since been ruined and regrown. You play as Inayah, an outcast from most due to her white hair and odd eyes. Her abilities are probably also a factor but interestingly the game doesn't touch on that. You are orphaned when your father and friends get extremely murdered by a group of Totally Not Fascists. Now as an adult with inappropriate clothes for living in a jungle: you must go on a quest to find your people, and find where you belong in this world.
Oh and you will do a lot of punching, slashing, and flailing along the way.
This game is a pretty straight-forward metroidvania with an interesting equipment system that acts both as your combat tools as well as your traversal equipment. The art is wonderful and the music is solid. The writing won't be winning any awards, but it's solid, if a bit cliche. I don't have any major gripes with the game, but a couple annoyances that will grate on me over time: Her internal monologue voice has a weird echo that just sounds like the audio got doubled; and some of the traversal expectations require quicker reflexes than I think I have, so that's going to be a struggle.
I am probably going to continue playing this on my own time, but I don't know if I'll be telling all my friends about it.
