We probably should go save Cortex...I mean...why? He *did* try to kill us a lot, and he probably won't be needed for the rest of the game...why don't we just-How could you say that?! We must save him!
Remember the last chase with Cortex? Same idea, we can't hurt Evil Crash and Cortex's life is tied to ours! There are a lot more switches, a lot more explosives, and it is just generally harder! Which is fun!
Near the end of the first part (Where there is a platform you have to spin twice) look down and towards the camera, you'll see the Green Gem!
More smashing and buttons for the second part, no gem around there.
Now on the 3rd part you will see a line of ! Crates. DON'T HIT THE LAST ONE. It'll kill Cortex.
After a spot that has 2 spinney saw things of death (One you hit, the other Cortex hits) look for a platform that comes towards the camera you'll get the Blue Gem! Cortex might die in the process though...
What about Evil Crash?! Aren't we gonna kill him? Oh well. I wanted an epic boss fight...if you go where Evil Crash went off to though, you'll find the Purple Gem!
Now for a bunch more puzzles. Go to the Platform Puzzle directly ahead, It's the spinny things from the Chase! Now you can either A: Spin the switch while the Ball is on it (Which probably will spin it off) or spin it while in the center. Or you can be like me and just spin/slide the ball over it! Now you got the Clear Gem!
Also by the puzzle you'll find a switch, hit it then follow the coast to the left side of the base, then jump up the crates and hit that switch, then run back to the entrance to this area and hug the coast again, you'll find a jumping crate which will get you the Yellow Gem!
Next one! Head towards the large group of Nitros! Go in through the side and hit the ! Crate. This will allow you to get to the platform, then spin the ball into the Nitros and then jump up the crates to get the Red!
Now then...let's invade that evil base!
