The role of libraries in a society. Public libraries exist to provide free universal access to information, a noble goal that a law called copyright stands against. As someone who believes that the ideals of what libraries stand for are important to a society, I oppose copyright for this reason among many. Copyright seeks to prohibit sharing which is the fundamental function of a public library. Altough public libraries are allowed exist as a sort of exception in a world where copyright prevails, if not for copyright libraries could expand their operations tremendously.
