Lies of P is an incredible Soulslike, arguably the best ever. However, it continues the genres recent trend of pushing the difficulty to the extreme, challenging the most hardcore players, while leaving more casual fans in the dust. For me, Lies of P struggles because it tries to incorporate systems from Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and Sekiro without fully going all in on one. At the same time, bosses are overpowered and borderline unfair for a multitude of reasons. Still, Lies of P will endure as a great soulslike in part because of the combat, but also because it's incredible storytelling and strong art direction.
