Considered by many to be the best shmup on the NES, and I can see why, awesome soundtrack, great stages and 2 player co-op fun available!

Stage 1: This stage has many arms coming for you, the stage also materializes itself. Spikes hang from the floors and ceilings, and regeneratable walls(We all know how WONDERFUL they are).
The Brain Golem is easier in the NES port since he doesn't shoot(changes in loop 2), he's pathetic.

Stage 2, like I said, the mountain stage is very iconic, volcanoes will start erupting, halfway through small rocks and big rocks that can split will follow.
OH GREAT... the Center Core... oh... it's much easier now since the cores actually LEAVE! The Tetran is still hard if not careful, and if you take too long, the arms will extend(they can also change direction starting at loop 2).

Stage 3: This stage has a lot more activity than in the arcade, making this stage really fun, and my favorite in game. The giant flames, and all the fireballs, the Invaders are now enemies. Now the Boss is a giant Dragon called the Intruder.
This boss may seem menacing, but it's actually not too hard.

Stage 4: The first exclusive stage. Equip a speed up when you get here, a high speed section will soon follow. Then you'll be surrounded by many other organic hazards, they all guarantee instant death.
Giga would be difficult if it actually had a decent amount of health. He can also throw his eyeballs at you(yuck!)

Stage 5: The second exclusive stage. To avoid those crystals in the beginning, stay at the top. The stalactites also are in a fixed position, knowing that makes it far easier.
This mini boss is a joke(Guess they needed a reason to play Aircraft Carrier).
The rest is in a pyramid that starts with moving pillars, then you squeeze through many narrow passages.
The falling bricks at the start of the fight WILL kill you, so be careful, but Tutakhamenanattck is real easy, you take too long, he'll move to the other side, just wait for him to go back.

Stage 6: This stage isn't a joke, that should be apparent when orbs fly at you at sonic speed, and power orbs come from down below, this stage also has tons of bullets and... MOAI HEADS. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.
The jumping moais aren't too bad, but note the area will loop until both are dead. Zelos Force, the final boss, actually attacks, but it's not too hard still. The escape sequence is easily the hardest part of the game, have some lives in stock.
