If you have Windows version of the game then just download Linux patch package from the following site to run the Linux version. Linux patch has Linux executable except for game data which can be taken from Windows version of the game. You need 32 bit version of the libpulsedsp.so file installed to get sound working.

Run the Linux version by executing tuxracer.sh file in the game folder

sudo apt-get upgrade

and also use software update tool from Ubuntu to upgrade all the remaining packages
