Part 22

In case you were wondering, the King and Queen are okay. They're not dead or in cahoots with Torren or anything, and with the Minister and Torren defeated (and apparently disappeared without a trace), the town is back to being as peaceful as ever. The law keeping the citizens within the town walls has also been lifted, allowing any of the townsfolk to travel in and out as they please, though Axe no longer really has the drive to do it. He realizes there are people in the town he can't simply abandon.
That leaves one bit of unfinished business: The Gifting Rite. The plot got too interesting in the last three chapters for this to come up, but we'll wrap this up here. Under the bridge, near the mines, is a barred-up passage. Within, Cole had planted another one of the flower we saw in Pasmina's house to use as Axe's gift for that Gifting Rite. The final scene of this story, of course, is the Gifting Rite itself, with Axe and his chosen mate at the top of Windmill Tower--for Axe, it's no longer a means to an end.
We see one last scene, in which Axe narrates how his town is peaceful and loves it. It's a bookend for a very similar scene near the beginning of the game, with Nelz and some castle guards replaced with a researcher and Witt. Axe's remark of "I couldn't ask for more!" in the narration is also now genuine.
And so we got the credits, as I should always put up. We got one more video after this, the Scrap Book.
