Live A Live [Part 1 - Mecha] - Expect the Unexpected
Time for my next playthrough, and a bit of an explanation as to what's going on here: Live A Live is an RPG for the SNES made by Squaresoft (obviously before they became Square Enix and slowly degenerated into evil - as per evidence currently with Final Fantasy ATB). This little gem of a game never got an overseas release, which is quite the shame, considering this is probably one of the most unique RPG's out there. Apparently there were rumors that this game was actually going to get a U.S./European release, but it sadly never went through. Fortunately, the good folks of Aeon Genesis made a spectacular translation patch for the game (as they've also done in the past with various other games that never got an overseas release).
With that out of the way, let's get to the obvious matter at hand here: I know a lot of people (if not, all) were expecting a Mega Man game due to my previous poll. I'll state this now to clear up some confusion: No, I am not quitting Mega Man as my primary choice of games on this series. As stated before, I'll probably kick things off with Rockman 7 or 8 FC once I get done with this one. For now though, I wanted to try something a bit different - primarily a game I've always wanted to do a playthrough of, but never got around to doing so until now. Incidentally, I believe I've name-dropped this game before as slight foreshadowing to this (albeit it was during my WarioWare Inc playthrough, which not many people really watched).
So then, how did the votes from the poll on the previous video play into this? Well, unlike in most RPG's, you don't get a set team of sorts. You actually have several chapters you can pick from - each taking place in different time periods. I assigned each a number 1 through 7 (in order from left to right in how they appear on the main selection screen), and the votes would determine which chapter I stated off with. 7 got the majority of the votes, which of course was assigned to last on the cycle - the Mecha chapter.
As per usual, most of my other comments on this game (that weren't included into this spectacularly long description) will be in the annotations. As another important note: I'll be holding more polls as this series goes on. Specifically when a chapter ends, I'll call up for another vote for which chapter is played through next. This will only be open at the end of a chapter, however. I'd rather have all the votes on a single video rather than have them be spread out through multiple ones. I'll put up a notice on end-chapter videos for when polls/voting is opened and closed.
Anyways, that's about it for now (and hopefully I'll never have to write a description that long ever again). I hope you guys take interest this little break in the norm. And trust me - for an RPG, this actually isn't that long of a game (though I'll still be going over my usual time-limit for these videos - about 15 to 20 minutes per segment - which will probably make this fly by even faster).
