"Living Through Ghosts sounded akin to a broken washing machine full
of molasses and cinder blocks.” -Jake Cobb, Music In Minnesota

It’s gotta be doom for that to be a compliment. Originally formed in 2015
by vocalist Horselord and bassist Kyle Blenkush, LTG’s initial run produced
Wake The Gods, an EP of compelling Entombed-tinged death doom. While it turned
heads and earned a devoted following in the band’s local Minneapolis/St. Paul
metal scene, the band would fold soon after. In 2018, Horselord and Blenkush
felt a resurrection was in order, with a new lineup coalescing around Sam Rhode
and Matt Duffin on guitars and Colton Koch on drums.
Things are different this time. The intent is more funereal, visceral, emotional,
even epic. LTG MKII veers from wretched melancholy to cosmic horror, with a post
-rock sense of dynamics not often seen in music this punishing. The dual slow-motion
guitar attack snarls atop the loping, purposeful lockstep of Blenkush and Koch, while
above it all, Horselord’s roars on wings of anguish and ire.
In June of 2019, after a year of writing and live shows, LTG released its first
full-length album, Deus Absconditus. Recorded live, the album captures the fullenergy
of the band with minimal fanfare; the music does the talking. Five tracks ranging from personal
to apocalyptic, bound by monolithic intent, and offering the only catharsis left, that of staring down the void together.
Deus Absconditus by Living Through Ghosts is available in all the usual streaming
and digital formats, and will soon be given a proper physical release. The band can be seen live regularly, performing in and around the Twin Cities.
