Weirdly the NES was originally envisioned as more of a home computer than a console, with Nintendo at one point showing off a prototype with a keyboard and some sort of cassette recorder. Well it turns out the NES as computer concept did see the light of day in Japan thanks to the Family Computer Keyboard and Family basic.
