Logitech Please... Being miserable trying to drive with a G27 slowly getting off-center.
This is a warning for those that are thinking on buying a G27, do some research first, looks like that there is a batch of manufactured G27 that have this problem, some don't have it, just bear this in mind. All caused by Logitech leaving some loose screws near the sensor thus physically damaging the optical encoder wheel after some time of use.
Hey guys... So in this I show in first hand the problem I have been having with the G27... Jump to the last stage so you can see the wheel fully off-center, almost having no steering to the Right in game.
The problem is because of cracked Optical Encoder Wheel damaged because the screws near the sensor and the encoder were loose, off the factory problem! Because of the loose screws after only 3 months of use the optical encoder cracked making it slip and make the sensor to receive wrong readings thus making the wheel get off-center little by little.
I confess, I opened the wheel myself the first time I had this problem because the Logitech Support wouldn't respond my Request for Support (they responded me 2 weeks later). After some research I found out that this is a very common problem in G27 Logitech Wheels. Almost feels that they leave the screws loose just to make it brake after some years of use, but since I use my wheel almost daily and in a hot environment this problem occurred way sooner only 3 months after purchase.
I patched the wheel by adding some glue to the metal pole where the Encoder wheel is so it would not slip, it worked until recently when the weather here started to get hot again, when the wheel overheats the encoder starts to give bad readings again... The wheel is about a year old now still all this started with a factory defect from Logitech.
Now I'm trying again to get support for my wheel and request a warranty replacement but since I opened the wheel myself they can deny it. Currently waiting their slow response.
I just want the so called "reliable wheel" that the G27 is famous for... Nothing more.
Meanwhile the solution for now is to use the wheel Without the Case while with a fan turned on so it doesn't get too hot when I'm using it. Ugly solution but it works.
To Logitech: I hope that you understand my frustration, I just want a working wheel without reliability issues. And just to add, probably some people bought your products because of my videos.
