Vagrant story is something of a Hidden Gem™ in the ps1 library. A Squaresoft title that not only got near perfect critical acclaim and sold enough to get "Greatest hits" re-prints but hasn't been remembered quite like it's counterparts.

Part of this may be due to the difficulty and unfriendly nature of the game for new players compounded with our new-found short attention span and need to have things spelled out.

I'll be honest, I found it hard to learn with how little the game taught me and do feel it can benefit from some tutorials, but when you do learn the game the critical acclaim and sales really begin to make sense.

Give this niche JRPG from squaresoft a try! Even to this day there's still nothing quite like it!
