What’s up Nerds, LowKeyNerd here. It’s been a while since we’ve last talked. That is, unless you are following me on Twitch, or joined the Discord, wink-wink. I got Top 500 in S4 and I’ve hit Top 500 a couple times now in S5.
Pilot D.Va and Thrusters were going to be a single video, but I realized I had more to say about Pilot D.Va then I thought, so I will split those videos. Today, I am going to share some tips and tricks for Pilot D.Va (we don’t call her baby D.Va); I’ll report you if you do.
Here we go:
1. Pilot D.Va is both a blessing and a curse. The opportunity to get a second mech is awesome, but a smart enemy will try to stagger you longer than the rest of your team if you are the last one to die. If they are trying to stagger you and there is no quick place to suicide, run right up to the nearest squishy and start blasting shots off. They will have no choice but to kill you.
2. If you get De-meched away from your team, try to get back to the rest of your team and fire shots off at choke points for the highest likeliness to get mech back faster. Also, be sure to aim high enough to get critical hits at those chokepoints. Stay with or behind your other tanks.
3. If you get De-meched with your team in a team fight, then this is where the crazy starts. Don’t stop firing and move left, right, and crouch. In a team fight, you should be shooting constantly in the crit zone area. If everyone is grouped up and you are having a hard time landing shots, remember to use melee.
4. The most important tip, after owning the other team and building back your mech, call mech immediately. Don’t hesitate. Pilot D.Va is the weaker of the two D.Vas. The only time you wouldn’t want to call mech is if your team has already lost the fight. If you call mech in a lost fight, you simply feed the enemy ult charge.
5. If you lose mech early in a fight, can’t commit suicide quickly, and have low ult charge for your real ultimate, go back to spawn and switch heroes. Switch back to D.Va. This will give you a new mech. I wouldn’t do this if you have anything greater than 20% real ult charge.
6. Pilot D.Va does a surprising amount of damage, especially if you land headshots. I’ve solo’d plenty of Grade A Tracers in GM and Top 500 just because Pilot D.Va is so hard to hit and her projectiles have a large hit-zone. The takeaway here is not to give up in a team fight. Go for the gold even if you lose your mech.
7. I’ve back capped the payload and capture point several times as Pilot D.Va because, often, a team will ignore you once you are out of mech. If the payload is close, you are close to the payload, and the enemy team is ignoring you, then try to be a little sneaky ;). Of course, this happening is heavily situational and you shouldn’t do it all the time.
8. Don’t forget to bm teabag if you solo anyone as Pilot D.Va, especially Tracers. This is your one chance to Teabag and is almost as important as winning the game.
That’s it really. The next video will focus on positioning and Thrusters since they are heavily related and are indicative of higher skill players. I do encourage you to join the Discord and follow me on Twitch; we have genuine fun most times and play together on weekends. Until next time, thanks for watching, peace.
