Lyft brings on team from livestreaming company Kamcord.
Lyft today announced that it has hired the majority of employees from Kamcord, a company that plans to sunset its products for livestreaming and social media. Lyft did not acquire Kamcord or its livestreaming tech, but as part of the deal, 12 of Kamcord’s 15 employees will join the ride-hailing company, a Lyft spokesperson told VentureBeat.
Kamcord technology had previously been used by more than 2 million people to livestream videos or mobile gameplay.
Earlier this year, Kamcord launched the Flare app to give users the ability to publish geo-fenced posts that disappear in 24 hours. Kamcord will discontinue the Flare app and remove it from the iOS App Store, cofounder Aditya Rathnam told VentureBeat.
