Mac Tips-N-Tricks #1 - The Option Key
The option key is a standard key on Apple keyboards. Not only is it used in conjunction with other keys for keyboard shortcuts, but it also serves a purpose on its own. In this video, you see a lot of ways that the option key can be used to simplify daily workflow. Here is a a short list of other uses for the option key, that weren't discussed in the video:
Force Quit applications with the Dock contextual menu
Verify Time Machine backups in the TIme Machine menu
Pause the camera in iChat by holding down option and getting a pause button
Switching the chapter list to a grid view in QuickTime X
Change the "Arrange By" menu to "Sort By"
Resize Dock in increments by resizing and holding down option
