MacBook Pro Mid-2012 SSD and RAM Upgrade Tutorial
I was recently asked to help out a customer with their Mid-2012 MacBook Pro for upgrading both the RAM and SSD from their 8 GB purchased configuration and 500 GB, 5,400 RPM HDD by default.
Installed are a new Samsung 860 EVO 500 GB SSD and 16 GB of Crucial SO-DIMM 1,600mhz DDR3.
Required tools are a Torx T6 bit and a Phillips #000 for the outer screws and HDD Bracket. The Torx is used for the screws on the HDD / SSD itself to align with the chassis bracket.
I don't work on Macs too often so helping someone upgrade their machine was a fun experience and after all was said and done, not hard to do so I figured making a quick tutorial may help others as well.
Parts used in this video are below:
I've seen some mentions that the standard PC version of the SO-DIMM RAM has been incompatible with their machine despite matching technical specs so I have instead linked the Mac version down below.
