Madness vs Machines Shenanigans #67 - Winterbridge RC4C Rusted Retribution
1I'm not a big fan of Medieval MvM. Its not very balanced when it comes to class choices and I think a lot of it comes down to map and Wave design too.
Demoman, Spy and Sniper will be a way better and more effective choice compared to other classes if you know how to play them.
Scout is more or less just milk spamming, which is incredibly boring. Nobody in their right mind should play Engineer.
I dont think this map is suited to Medieval MvM as it is. Its too dark, which is already a problem in normal maps, and the way back to the frontline in later waves is too long.
Compare it with other maps like Frostwynd which offers alternate routes to get back in the fight more quickly.
Some of the enemies have added damage bonuses that you just wont know unless its too late. I'm not a big fan of that in general.
Distinctions like particle effects or just the appropriate symbol in the wave display would help to identify more dangerous enemies.
When I have to get in close to fight a Giant and it turns out his Shovel deals 25% more damage despite looking unremarkable, it just doesnt feel right.
Add to all that the terrible melee hit registration and Medieval MvM can get pretty annoying.
