Mafia: The Old Country is set to launch in a few days on August 8.

Reports indicate that Hangar 13, the developer of the Mafia series, may already be planning their next game following the upcoming release of Mafia: The Old Country.

Hangar 13 is hiring a Principal AI Designer for the franchise, and this job ad suggests a new Mafia project is already in the works, responsibilities such as crafting new archetypes for a Mafia game, developing enemy behaviors and abilities, and balancing experiences based on feedback. This suggests the early stages of development for a potential new installment in the series.

This could mean that the series’ next game will arrive sooner than expected.

The position, which is based in the UK, will see the developer help craft combat, NPCs and overall AI game design. Additionally, they'll help balance those experiences based on feedback, among other responsibilities.

Mafia: The Old Country is not yet released, scheduled for August 8, 2025. Therefore, these are early indications of a future project rather than a confirmed announcement. The nature of the next game (whether it's Mafia 5, a remake like Mafia 2, or another type of Mafia experience) remains to be seen.
