Magicmaker NG++++ Speedrun (14:15)
Having routed and run this category now, I can safely say that it is pretty degenerate.
Obvious question out of the way first: Why New Game ++++ specifically? Because it is the lowest number of +s that you can have and still start with all material slots for all spells. This is when you are at your most powerful and the enemies have scaled up the least in comparison, so it SHOULD be the fastest way to play the game through.
Level layouts matter, but way less than Any%. Boss variants don't matter at all.
Build stuff:
Wand: 6 Rift Crystals and 1 Fairy Wings. Set to enchantment to spam teleports. Easiest way to get around fast and doesn't count as movement for robe bonuses.
Spell 1: Illusion Dust, Crystal Ball, Diamond, Rock, Spider Silk, Soul Contract, Chaos Butterfly. Mass AOE spam spell. Can actually get crazier if you throw in an Essence of Monday, but that makes it slower to get going and the extra damage isn't really needed. I have a variant of this spell with Rainbow Prism instead of Diamond for The Cleansing as well.
Spell 2: 2 Optic Lens, Diamond, Quicksilver Gear, Rock, Fire Crystal, Soul Contract. Utility laser. Used to help light torches in We're Ready to Believe You and break ice quickly in both ice levels. Soul Contract is only there to make it cost no mana.
Robe: Illusion Dust, Harpy Feather, Diamond, 2 Tonna Bricks, 2 Owlbear Traps. This ties it all together. Immunity to knockback and gravity, then while standing still gives 150% reduction to damage taken and 150% bones to damage dealt. There are some things that can force movement, but for the most part this and the wand makes me functionally invincible.
