Right now I feel everyone is correct about this game, good and bad reviews, it's really a mixed bag and you don't know what you're going to find, so it's rather about you and your approach of things, if you do like to find beauty in chaos you will be able to do so, but if any detail could break your immersion, it is certainly not for you.
And, as a gamer, I also feel we can criticize games as long as they're asking money for it ( and as long as we don't insult people, that's obvious, but not in these days). When they're free, we still can, but not necessary want to. At least it's how I see things. If it's not a product, just pure passion and time, hate it or love it, but if you hate it, just ignore it. Now if we're talking about money, that's not the same, and people got the right to point at things as they had to buy it, so they're in the right to expect some things, especially from professionals. That's where some ambitious free mods for Doom, for example, are not necessary a good thing for broken games that need to be bought.
Now something that could be clever for devs in general would be to allow and encourage modding their games, it could increase their qualities, and fix a lot of problems they not always do, as they don't have an infinite time for each game and have to move on.
