For many, many years Exciting Soccer II has been incorrectly using the Colour data PROMs from Exciting Soccer, a poor assumption that was often made in the earlier days of MAME as many people didn't want to desolder PROMs to dump them, or didn't have the tools to do so. This was causing various graphical issues as some colours sued by Exciting Soccer II were blank in the Exciting Soccer 1 PROMs. Using the proper PROMs also reveals that even the pitch colour was meant to be different on this version.

It's still not a very good game, frustrating more than exciting, the idea of having the same joystick directions control your player, keepers, and shot placement all at the same time was not a good one.
