About a dozen Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded to the blaze and were able to bring it under control around 9.55am. Hart said that firefighters and rescue teams put out the fire, and residents were evacuated from the 18-flat block. He added that no one living on the block suffered any other injuries. Police believe two people lived in the unit that caught fire. "One of the men is safe and well, and the other is still unknown," Hart said. He added that the unit was "substantially" damaged by the fire. "It was a pretty big fire, it took several hours for firefighters and rescuers to get the fire under control," he said.
