Squee! Jesse has added a feature to Mandelbulb 3D that lets you export data that can be converted to a 3D mesh object. This is much better than the PhotoFly hack that I came up with a few months ago.
He calls it a voxel stack - basically a series of thin slices of the fractal object. You export the images from M3D then use other apps to convert to 3d models.
