Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 3 DLC saw the introduction to a new feature that added a different way to play Mario Kart: Custom Items. This allows for the host of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Online Racing with viewers lobby to choose which items to use for the next round of races. This can range from Bullet Bills only, to Blue Shells only.
