It has been one year since both Mario Party 1 and 2 have come out on Nintendo Switch Online, and we just now get Mario Party 3. This game released in 2001 for the Nintendo 64, and like the first Mario Party game, this one was never re-released until now.
In Mario Party 3, the Millennium Star, which is born once in a thousand years, come crashing down, Mario and friends compete to see who could be the Superstar that would keep the Millennium Star. This game introduces a character called Tumble, who wears a dice on his head, and he does also appear in Mario Party Advance, he and the Millennium Star are the hosts, replacing Toad from the first two games, this game has 70 new minigames, and in addition to the 6 playable characters, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, and Donkey Kong, two newcomers are included in the game, Daisy and Waluigi, both appeared in Mario Tennis before this game.
I take on the Battle Royal Mode, that is the board game where you collect coins and Stars to win the game, the first board in the game is Chilly Waters, I play as Yoshi and pick Mario, Donkey Kong, and Waluigi for the CPU players.
Chilly Waters is an ice themed board, and to explain about the board, the Koopa Bank returns from Mario Party 2, Toad and Baby Bowser run the shop, Toad sells items like Mushroom, Warp Block, and Dueling Glove, and Baby Bowser sells Reverse Mushroom, Poison Mushroom, and Lucky Lamp. You can hold up to three items at once, new items introduced are Boo Repellant, which prevents Boo from stealing coins or a Star, the Bowser Phone has you phone Bowser and you can choose who is phoning him. Cellular Shopper has you buy items from anywhere on the board, Lucky Lamp has you change the Star location, and Reverse Mushroom has you travel the opposite direction.
You can get rare items if you step on an Item Space and answer Toad or Baby Bowser's question, the rare items are a Wacky Watch, which can set the game for 5 turns left, you can increase or decrease the amount of time left, Barter Box has you swap items with a chosen player, the Koopa Card has you take all the coins from the Koopa Bank if you pass by it, and Lucky Charm has you summon Game Guy and you can play a Game Guy minigame, where you can double your coins, or lose all of your coins if you lose.
Back to Chilly Waters, there is a Mr. Blizzard that throws a snowball, and you can play Action Time where you can jump over the snowball, this can happen if you step on a Happening Space. The center of the board can break if two players step on it, moving them to the southeastern part of the board, and players can slip on the ice.
I will be listing the minigames that appeared in this video, and some of them can appear two or more times on this board.
