Mario Party 9 - Choice Challenge
Here's another one of the bonus modes in Mario Party 9: The Choice Challenge. It's a pretty interesting concept, but it really works better the more players you have. Here, I'll explain how it works, and you'll see for yourself in this video.
The Blue Toad will select five free-for-all minigames at random. Each player then picks 3 of those minigames, though what they select is a secret to the other players. He'll then award points based on how well they did that minigame, and whoever has the most points at the end wins. Toad already explains that, but what he doesn't explain is that he will go through all five minigames anyway.
When he reveals a minigame, it'll be played by everyone who selected it--unless that minigame was selected by nobody or only one person. If no one selects it, Toad just skips ahead to the next one. If one person selects it, he'll also skip ahead, except the person who selected it gets an automatic 100 points for first place.
The thing is that there is also a Chance Minigame, where the winner gets 150 points instead. I'm guessing this is to reduce the amount of ties there would be without it, but well, it kind of made this run a bit more awkward. (I love how Toad talks like something is actually happening.)
The games here are Peak Precision; Goomba Spotting; 10 to Win; Pizza Me, Mario; and Bomb Barge. No, you will not be seeing the second go at this, because it wasn't as interesting.
