Mark Cerny's Unnamed Crash Bandicoot Game for Playstation 2 - Short Footage
In my latest video where I covered 10 interesting facts about Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, one of them was that the game was originally under the management of Mark Cerny and it was going to be a free-roaming 3D game with puzzle elements that would see Crash traveling between planets. Universal Interactive Studios approached Traveller's Tales as the development team behind the game. They produced a 3D rendered demo of Crash running through a volcanic level which slightly resembles the twenty-first stage in the final game, Crash and Burn. Universal and Konami announced an agreement to have Konami publish a Crash Bandicoot game for the next-generation game consoles, with Universal and Sony handling the production of the games. However, after Mark had a fallout with both Universal and Sony, the game was dropped. Traveller's Tales was then forced to re-design a new game with the classic formula from scratch and they were given only twelve months to do so. The game went on to become what we know now as Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex.
The credit for this video goes to Mark Cerny and Jon Burton, who made it possible for this footage to be seen by fans.
