Marvel movies are known for their memorable action scenes, but at the same time, there’s a lot of CGI in them and people may not really appreciate the work that the stunt doubles put in to bring these movies to life. But the life of the stunt double is in the spotlight right now, thanks in part to the hype around Netflix’s new movie Extraction. The movie was directed by veteran Marvel Stunt Double Sam Hargrave and stars Chris Hemsworth. Hargrave got his start working as the double for Chris Evans’ Captain America in the first Avengers film and has since worked his way up to stunt coordinator and second unit director come Infinity War and Endgame. His brother, Daniel Hargrave, has taken on the mantle of Captain America when Winter Soldier reshoots happened.

Sam knows a lot of the doubles on this list and naturally has worked with many of them. Some of the doubles are for characters you wouldn’t think needed stunt doubles, thanks largely due to CGI. Characters like Hulk and Iron Man are made largely in part in computers now, but the movie still needs a point of reference, which is where doubles like Loyd Bateman and Glenn Foster come into play.

Other actors look like they may not need stunt doubles. That includes Chris Hemsworth, whose double Bobby Holland has been working for him ever since Thor The Dark World. Likewise, Tom Holland may be an ace gymnast but he still needs Marvin Ross to help him out. Monique Ganderton, like Sam Hargrave, not only works as a stunt double for Mantis, but also got to coordinate the scene between Hulk and Thanos in Infinity War. Gui Da Silva brought Black Panther to life and actually shares how he got decked by Sebastian Stan himself by accident. Thankfully, the mask was thick. Speaking of masks, Chris Pratt’s double, Chris Romrell, hated Star-Lord’s mask. Find out why here!
