Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Is Coming To Playstation 5 On November 12th
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero Miles Morales, it will be the second game in the Marvel's Spider-Man series, following Marvel's Spider-Man (2018). It was announced at the PlayStation 5 live reveal event in June 2020, with a version for the PlayStation 4 being announced during PlayStation 5 Showcase on September 16, 2020. It is due to be released on November 12, 2020 and November 19 as a launch title for the PlayStation 5.
The narrative continues from Marvel's Spider-Man and its downloadable content The City That Never Sleeps, during which Miles Morales is bitten by a genetically-enhanced spider and gains powers similar to Peter Parker's. A year after the first game and its DLC, Miles has fully integrated himself into the black and red suit as an experienced Spider-Man while defending both his new home in Harlem and the rest of New York City from a gang war between the Roxxon energy corporation and a high-tech criminal army lead by the Tinkerer. Parker tells Miles that he has to be like his late father and walk on the path to becoming a hero for the city of New York.[1]
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is being developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.[4][5][6] Sony Vice President Simon Rutter told The Telegraph that the game was "an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game".[7] However, Insomniac later called the project a standalone game, stating that it is "the next adventure in the Marvel's Spider-Man universe".[8] It is smaller in size and scope than Spider-Man, and has been compared to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a game that was smaller in size and scope than a mainline Uncharted title.[7][8][9] The game will feature "a new story, with new set-pieces, fresh villains, and unique quests",[2] and will take advantage of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller, Tempest Engine and dedicated ray tracing hardware to support haptic feedback, 3D spatial audio and real-time ray tracing effects, enhancing the player immersion experience.[10][11] With the increased processing power and inclusion of a custom solid state drive storage, the game will feature near instantaneous load times and a wide variety of enemies, visual effects, and objects within gameplay scenes.[12] Insomniac Games also confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will feature an optional "performance mode" that will allow players to run the game at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second with support for high dynamic range.[13][14]
The game was announced on June 11, 2020 at the PlayStation 5 reveal event. It is due to be released on November 12, 2020 alongside the release of the PlayStation 5.[4][15] An issue of the Game Informer magazine reported that the game will also release alongside a remastered version of Marvel's Spider-Man.[16] This was later confirmed in a PlayStation Blog post during the PlayStation 5 Showcase on September 16, 2020. The remaster will be available exclusively for the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, with it being a download code included within the physical edition and included in the digital edition. The same post also revealed a version of the game on the PlayStation 4 was to be released.[6]
