As you'll discover, the matter involves the person Samara was chasing back on Illium, an Asari known as an Ardat-Yakshi. Ardat-Yakshi are born with a genetic defect that causes them to kill whoever they meld with during sex, and become addicted to its narcotic effects. And to make matters worse, Morinth is Samara's daughter, the reason she became a Justicar 400 years ago. Not all Ardat Yakshi are bad (Samara has two other Ardat-Yakshi daughters who aren't a threat to anybody), but Samara's quarry, Morinth, craves it above all else.
