1Math and Language Barriers! Real talk, this topic came to me in a dream! Naturally I had to run with it. It gets interesting the more you think about it though. Language is complicated and language barriers are thing.
In this video, I talk about the dream that led to this, language barriers in general and their complexity, and I look at the question, are there language barriers in math. The short answer is yes, and in more ways than you think. The long answer is in the video! Let's talk about things!
Edit: Towards the end, I said good when I met bad. I mentioned that learning math on the academic level is different for math on the universal level. We're natural mathematicians. You can't be bad at something you already do. I accidentally said you can't be at good at something you already do, which makes no sense, especially in context. I thought I said bad.
In any case, the take home message is you have so much going against when you learn math on the academic level. You already do math naturally and math in the classroom is an extension of that. You can do it.
