Max Launch Problems
Warner Bros. Discovery has launched a new streaming service called "Max," which replaces HBO Max. However, the transition has not been smooth, with subscribers facing login issues and expressing confusion about the change. Some users are having trouble logging into their accounts on Roku, and others have encountered error messages on the app. A Max spokesperson acknowledged the minor issues and stated that they were quickly resolved. Similar technical problems have been experienced during the launch of other streaming services, such as Disney+ in 2019.
The migration from HBO Max to Max has presented unique challenges since it involves rebranding an existing service. While some devices automatically update to the new Max app, users of Android, Apple, DirecTV, LG, PlayStation, Xbox, and Samsung TVs need to download a separate app, leading to confusion among subscribers. The requirement to download a new app has drawn criticism on social media, with users questioning the decision.
Furthermore, some features have been lost in the transition. For instance, users can no longer upload custom profile pictures for their accounts. Many people have also mocked the new name, "Max," and its tagline, "The one to watch for HBO." Despite the rollout issues and criticism, Max offers a content library that includes HBO Originals, DC movies, and content from Discovery brands like HGTV and Food Network.
