Maximum Apocalypse & Gothic Horrors Second Edition Review
Maximum Apocalypse, as a whole, is more than just a single game. It's a series of core boxes and expansions that are cross-compatible. Until recently, actually taking a dive into the universe could prove confusing for newcomers.

**Pros**
Second Edition is still Maximum Apocalypse and Maximum Apocalypse is still a stellar game
The Second Edition includes nice consolidation, refinements, and streamlining that improves the game
The Miniatures found in the Second Edition are quite nice
Both boxes include a variety of characters with very different playstyles
Highly replayable and modular
Natural Barriers to Alpha Gaming
Theme and gameplay meld together nicely
Easy setup and very little clunky overhead
A great mix of card play, resource management, and action economy
Lots of ways to work together
**Cons**
The Second Edition holds almost no value if you already own the first editions
Some components and wording weren't updated to match existing rules and components in Wasted Wilds
There are a few frustrating errors
Not many ways to raise the difficulty with just the base boxes
