Developed and published by Activision in 1995, "MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat" is a mech combat simulation game set in the BattleTech setting. While technically a followup to the earlier "MechWarrior" game from 1989, I think "MechWarrior 2" is what most people think of when they consider this series.

Taking place during the Refusal War period in 3057, two clans (Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf) war with each other in a series of vicious, ritualistic battles to determine who is right in their accusations or defense.

As someone who has no prior experience of the BattleTech setting, nor the games, there's a lot of reading and lore for me to catch up on.
