EDIT: 8th place! The only thing wrong was the very end because I rarely got to play it in the hours I've been practicing this stage... times like these I wish I had some kind of mechanical heart. I hate feeling my heartbeat, and it distracts me to no end if I get through the Rush Jet portion of the stage. I messed up the midair C. Shot I demonstrated successfully in this video numerous times because of it. :(

Anyway, it turns out my techniques were correct, I just needed to really tighten my gameplay up (too sloppy). That doesn't mean I didn't have help, though. I refer you to TrevorSeguin's video if you're looking for improvements:
