Mega Man & Bass (SFC) 100% Full Playthrough/Walkthrough Part 12: Ground Man CD Hunting
*NOTE: Before attempting this stage, make SURE you buy a spike protector from the shop. It is vital to get CD 027!
Welcome! In this video series, we'll be tackling the excellent Mega Man & Bass video game (also known as Rockman & Forte). Originally conceived as Mega Man 8.5 as an option for those who hadn't yet upgraded to PS1 or Saturn, this game was released for the Japanese Super Famicom and remained exclusive to that region until it was ported to the GBA in 2001. For the first time, you are able to play as Bass, who can rapid fire and double jump, but lacks the ability to charge his buster or slide. The game has been balanced because of this, with most stages having areas or powerups exclusive to Mega Man or Bass. The game also hides 100 different CDs throughout the game of which you must use both characters to unlock them all.
This video series is played using the Super Famicom version (as it's easier to see) and will take you through all the stages, grabbing all the CDs along the way. 89 of these will be obtained by Mega Man (partially due to many of them being exclusive to him and his Rush Search) while the remaining 11 will be gotten by Bass. The walkthrough will not cover how to get the optional items in the shop, as those are simply bought with screws (and you can replay stages to get screws at any time). The video will cover both Mega Man and Bass' storylines, with the first 20 parts dedicated to Mega Man and the remaining 12 parts dedicated to Bass.
In part 12, we find a plethora of CDs hidden within Ground Man's stage. There are a total of 13 CDs hidden within Ground Man's stage, however, we have to leave one for Bass making a total of 12 obtainable with Mega Man. In order to get all the CDs in one run, I kill myself off after getting CDs 028 and 059 so I can return to the totem head room and grab CD 013. Also make sure you have a spike protector to get CD 027 or it will be impossible to get. And if you have problems with CD 017, you can come back with Bass to get it (or buy another Spike Protector but make sure you have a fresh one for CD 027).
Also, CD 084 is often considered to be the hardest CD in the game to get due to the fish eroding the ground where you have to dig. My advice is to kill off any enemies prior, quickly deploy Rush and learn the fish pattern so you can destroy it before it hits Rush. It will likely take a few tries but eventually you'll get it. If the ground gets destroyed before you reach it, exit out or kill yourself off for another chance.
