Spectre v2 patch has Intel performance issues in Linux 4.20. As detailed in the below articles the new rollout of Spectre v2 has not gone over very well. Linus Torvalds made a couple statements over this and I personally agree with everything he said. Many system admins get caught up in security when everyone should be focusing on the correct balance between Security and Convenience.
