Memories of Christmas Past is an annual holiday spectacular in its 15th year, and takes place in the 1905 Arts & Crafts mansion of Olive and Wilford Arms. The seven period rooms of the Arms Family home in Youngstown will be filled to the brim with vintage and contemporary decorations that include ornaments, lighting, trees, and toys – all arranged in breathtaking vignettes that delight generations young and old. The display features many pieces from Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s collection as well as items on loan from private collectors.
This one-of-a-kind holiday wonderland rivals the best of the professional holiday displays as seen in New York City, Chicago, and Atlanta. Exquisitely arranged, the vintage décor on display is from the 1800s through the 1960s. The exhibit features all new displays each year.
Greystone, the magnificent 1905 Arts & Crafts-style residence of Wilford and Olive F. A. Arms, is preserved a century later as the Arms Family Museum of Local History. The first floor of this historical home features original period rooms that highlight the Arms’ love of handicraft, medieval architecture and the natural environment.
The lower level and second floor showcase a complete history of life in the Mahoning Valley, from the earliest evidence of human habitation in Mahoning County to yesterday’s fads. The museum is maintained and operated by the Mahoning Valley Historical Society (MVHS).
