In common with the road-going versions of the Mercedes-AMG GT family, the vehicle structure consists of a very light and extremely stiff aluminium spaceframe, which offers the driver outstanding safety. The driver is afforded additional protection by the sturdy carbon-fibre seat bucket as well as by an integral roll-over cage of high-strength steel.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is powered by an optimised AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine. The hallmarks of the 404 kW (550 hp), high-revving, naturally aspirated powerplant with dry sump lubrication are its high reliability and long service intervals. For maximum racing performance, the sequential six-speed racing transmission is mounted on the rear axle according to the transaxle principle. This guarantees optimal weight distribution.

To assist in the hunt for best times, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 comes with a multiple-disc limited-slip differential. In combination with adjustable traction control, it optimally transfers the power from the engine to the race track. Double-wishbone axles, made almost entirely from aluminium, bear witness to the intimate relationship between production and racing technology at Mercedes-AMG.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT3 is the embodiment of unadulterated power. The wider body, large air inlets, diffuser and rear aerofoil enhance its aerodynamic performance. To reduce the weight of the vehicle, many of the components are made from high-strength carbon fibre. The interior is dominated by ergonomics and functionality. Everything is designed for maximum clarity and accessibility: from the fluorescent labelling for improved operability at night to the steering wheel with ergonomic shift paddles, so that the drivers do not need to take their hands off the steering wheel when changing gear.
