The topic of Hardcore vs Softcore in Path of Exile keeps coming up, either as an innocent discussion or through less than innocent elitism. In this video I want to share my thoughts on this debate and how we can help the PoE community grow and improve.

A word on the word "Softcore":
People often bring up that I use the word Softcore, and that it is a term designed to put people down in the first place. I obviously do as much as I can to help remove elitism from our community. I think that at a certain point being over pollitically correct becomes cumbersome and only aggravates the problem. I argue that as Hardcore is the name given to perma death mode Softcore is the name that describes non perma death. It's a name for a mode and I don't think it needs to be inherently offensive. (Standard is not a game mode btw, it's the legacy softcore league). I'll personally continue to use the generally accepted "Softcore" and "Hardcore" when describing modes without any sort of elitism or put down behind it.
