Developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and published by Konami, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was released for PlayStation 2 in November, 2001. An expanded edition titled Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance was released the following year. A remastered version of Substance was included in the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation 3. Metal Gear Solid 2 is a great title in the franchise, showcases noticeable refinements and improvements, and was ahead of its time.
