Metal Gear Solid V - Episode -1 - Ground Zeroes
Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite game series ever, specifically because it focused on stealth gameplay. I firmly believe that MGS 5 has the best implementation of "tactical stealth" gameplay ever. I hope to show you why in this video series where I will take you through the entire game, starting with the prologue Ground Zeroes.
Ground Zeroes is a bit of a controversial title. At the time of its release, there was outrage about the price for what was ostensibly a tech demo. And, if you play it back-to-back with The Phantom Pain, you can see that the gameplay itself was still being implemented and refined. However, it lays the foundation for the story of MGS V, such as it is.
A note for those who may be unfamiliar with MGS V: The story isn't exactly a pleasant, feel-good kind of experience. Most of the characters go through some form of hell over the course of the game. Some of the worst of that is actually in Ground Zeroes, I would argue. And it becomes something of a gray area when you consider whether or not you're playing as the "good guy."
That said, I'm not going to spend hours and hours recording every tape in both games. There are already plenty of people much more studious than myself who have made excellent analyses of all of the themes, plot lines, and references in the game. This series will be focused on the gameplay and demonstrating that there is much more to the idea of "stealth" than simply hiding in the shadows.
