I like Metroidvanias. I like Roguelites. Combined, they're actually a relatively opposed mix, but some do it well.



Birth of a Hunter is a free game on Steam-- a passion project by a single man. It has its charm and it's roots, though it's very punishing in how it handles certain mechanics (such as the lack of i-frames after taking damage). It's not a BAD game, by any means, but it is definitely for hardcore players. If we get i-frames and no more run-ending dead ends due to being unable to reascend, I'd easily recommend. (That was a lot of end...)


A Robot Named Fight, on the other hand, is a mastercraft in being a love letter to Supe rMetroid, and is easy to recommend to any fan of Metroidvanias or roguelites/likes. It was recently updated, though I did not get to see any of the update in my runs this time.
