MGS V TPP - Ep.6: [Where Do the Bees Sleep] No Traces / No Upgrades* + 3 targets extracted
Game: Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain
Mission: Episode 6 - "Where Do the Bees Sleep?"
Played on PC (Steam version) with a PS3 Sixaxis controller
"No Traces" bonus obtained.
"No Upgrades*" with an asterisk because, actually, I already developed everything in the game, in fact I had the Bandana - for aesthetic reasons - on and I could fulton cars and cargos.
Still, this strategy is 100% doable from a savefile with nothing developed, my gear did not influence the gameplay. So I still count this as a No Upgrades playthrough, even if I had some of them.
The real "phantom pain" here has been riding the horse up to the Mountain Relay Base everytime I failed this mission.
And trust me, in these 4 days, I failed it A LOT. Up to the point I had to switch it to night-time (I originally tried doing it during day time) to get the edge.
Changing the hour also modified all the guards spawnings and routes, so I had to re-learn those.
Also, to make things more interesting, instead of just rushing to the "Honey Bee" weapon, I decided to extract the 3 optional targets too. I just forgot to show it at the end of the video, so I had to write it on screen.
The first side objective was to "Extract 2 Snipers at the Mountain Relay Base", I got the first one at 2:46 and the second at 3:45. The second objective was to "Extract the Prisoner who cannot speak", that I proceed to do right afterwards at 5:05. He also pinpoints the location of the main target, for all that matters.
Then I just had to ride to the Smasei Fort and get it. A very long ride, when you have to repeat it hundreds of times after being spotted by the chopper or one of the outside guards...
Once inside the fort, I kinda freestyled because I wasn't sure about guards location anymore, but luckily they left the room empty.
Outside, the SKULLS show up, but you can make 'em despawn by climbing the rocks on the right and running away. Then I called the chopper to my location, which I could do because I had previously destroyed the near anti-air antenna during my freeplay.
The chopper costed 64.000 GMP because it's fully developed, but since the only thing it does is picking me up, that only changed how much time I had to wait in order to get on board. So again, it didn't actually break the "No Upgrades" rule, it only avoided me to stand there like a idiot for a solid minute.
In the end, I got an S Rank and completed 4 of the 6 mission's objectives.
I could have fought the SKULLS to get down to 5, but it would have been risky and I couldn't have destroyed the chopper anyway, so I just ran for my life. lol
