Miku'n Pop [みっくんぽっぷ] Game Sample - PC/Doujin
Miku'n Pop is currently a simple game that allows you to play with Vocaloid favorites in a 30 stage action game (31 with the boss stage at the end). You can choose Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin by default and finishing the game allows you to play with Megurine Luka (all names going by last name first). It's a new game done by Studio BYP and it is currently in its BETA stage. The Studio BYP website also seems to host a "Yoko" character for Mugen (Yoko of "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann") that you can download. Looking at some of the spritework on the Studio's website, I would say that BYP is somewhat skillful. I won't link to BYP's website though because it has some NSFW stuff on it.
Each character has small differences and standard attacks. They also each have one powered up attack that can be used when you grab musical bubbles that defeated enemies drop. Miku is weak, but has the best ranged attack. She can't double jump, but has a decent regular jump. She's got average speed. Her special attack (all of which are done by pressing and/or holding DOWN+Attack) is full screen and does a little more damage. Rin's attack has very limited range and it is a little hard to use since she throws a bomb in an arc. Her regular jump is low, but she can double jump. She is pretty fast. Her attacks are strong and her special attack lets her throw multiple bombs. Luka's attack is straightforward; strong and goes straight for a while then begins to go downward. She's easier to use than Rin but harder to use than Miku. Her special attack is a powerful fist that creates a shockwave that hits anyone it touches. She seems to be the slowest of the three currently playable characters.
Enemies have different characteristics and attacks as well as different levels of stamina. You can jump on top of enemies to damage them (though one enemy must be knocked upside down first) and if you hit the ground beneath an enemy, you can stun them for a long period of time. There is a giant penguin enemy that can't be stunned by hitting the floor under it. You can walk off the edge of the screen and appear on the opposite side (you'll have to do this to access certain areas on some levels). You get score multipliers if you grab food while having all of your special power gauge filled up. The game's core design is somewhat reminiscent to the original Mario Bros. As-is, the game is playable, but it will be interesting to see what will happen with the game in the future. You can get the game at:
